Revolution Defender DeJuan Jones Re-Signed through 2024 MLS Season

Jones inks three-year extension after finishing fifth in 2021 MLS Defender of the Year voting

The New England Revolution have re-signed defender DeJuan Jones to a three-year contract extension through the 2024 MLS season with an additional one-year club option.

“DeJuan has shown tremendous improvement over his three years in New England and is developing into one of the best outside backs in Major League Soccer,” Revolution Sporting Director & Head Coach Bruce Arena said. “His performance this season was instrumental in helping us win the Supporters’ Shield. We look forward to seeing DeJuan continue to improve and excel here in New England.”

Jones, 24, finished fifth in 2021 MLS Defender of the Year voting after registering career highs with 31 appearances, three goals, and five assists last season. Jones started 29 games as he helped the Revolution set the all-time MLS points record and lift the club’s first-ever Supporters’ Shield. Jones The Lansing, Mich. native collected three goals and five assists, both ranking among the top-five MLS defenders in 2021. His five helpers were one shy of the Revolution’s single-season club record for a defender.

Originally selected as the ninth-overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, Jones has totaled 69 appearances and 56 starts with four goals and six assists in his first three MLS seasons. The Michigan State alum has also started all six of the Revolution’s games in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs since his arrival in New England, with one postseason assist.
